Whether you decide on a school visit to the Centre, or a visit from us to your school, an Animal Encounter Session, to a library or a talk to your group/organisation, our education & outreach team are passionate and enthusiastic and able to engage with audiences of all ages!

The Owl Centres Education team is constantly updating & developing its education programs to provide for all applicable areas of the teaching curriculum.

SCHOOL VISITS TO THE CENTRE.

A visit to us here at the Owl Centre is both educational and fun, with lots to engage pupils of all ages! We can cater for a range of subjects including nocturnal, day & night, woodlands, paws, claws & whiskers, predators and many more.

A typical visit gives pupils the opportunity to view all our aviaries and enclosures at the Centre, home to many weird & wonderful creatures. The chance to complete our fun quiz sheets as they go round the centre. An Animal Encounter Session tailored to your topic of choice when the children will have the opportunity to meet up close many of our education animals!

Half day and full day visits are available, we offer a range of discounts for school groups of 15 or more children.

We also offer free entry to the centre for your coach driver.

OUTREACH VISITS TO SCHOOL.

Our Outreach School Visits are hugely popular! A visit by our team and animals ensures an enjoyable and interactive learning experience!

From owls to snakes, creepy crawlies to hedgehogs, not to mention our team of super friendly ducks! We have a wide range of education animals who accompany us on outreach visits ensuring sessions are brought to life right in the heart of school!

Sessions normally last 45 minutes, we recommend around 20-30 children per session.

Half & full day visits are available, we visit schools across a wide area including Teesside, Tyneside, Wearside & North Yorkshire.

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER OUTREACH.

Libraries, out of school clubs and summer schools are just a few of the places where we run our Outreach Animal Encounter Sessions. They are fun and informative, an Owl Centre staff member will attend your event accompanied by a number of our education team animals.

We are able to tailor sessions to fit your needs and the theme of sessions changes throughout the year, for example our Easter Sessions often include the opportunity to meet some of our “Easter Babies!”

SPEAKERS FOR EVENTS/GROUPS / TALKS.

Owl Centre Staff regularly give talks & presentations to a variety of different groups and organisations from Natural History/Wildlife groups to WI and U3A meetings. Talks cover the work of the Owl Centre including our rehabilitation work with injured wildlife, owls and other birds of prey, conservation and how raptors fit into the Natural World.

Talks are informative and fun, and our human speakers are usually accompanied by a number of our Owls! Talks usually last 1 hour with a question and answer session to finish.
